Vancouver Hotels

As with other things in Vancouver, accommodations here are relatively expensive. You'll find some of the most reasonably-priced places in Chinatown and Downtown East Side. Another good bet is the University of British Columbia Conference Centre.

"Hostelling International" youth hostels or HIs, as the name implies, are more youth-friendly and cater to tourists who are particularly interested in Vancouver's social scene. There are three of them scattered throughout the city: HI-Vancouver Central, HI-Vancouver Downtown, and HI-Vancouver Jericho Beach. SameSun Vancouver shares almost the same vibe as those previously mentioned, if not a better one.

Your best bet for a wide range of choices would be in Vancouver's Downtown. If money is no concern, try any of these hotels:

  • Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (W. Georgia St.) - Opened in 1939 as the city's most grand hotel. Built by the Canadian Pacific Railway and still carries the style of old European railway hotels.
  • Opus Hotel (Davie St.) - All about nontraditional, contemporary attitude while still displaying exemplary luxury.
  • Pacific Palisades Hotel (Robson St.) - Colorful and hip, the best in the West End.
  • Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver (Canada Place) - Has one of the best views including Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, and the North Shore Mountains.
  • Wedgewood Hotel (Hornby St.) - Leading boutique hotel with European antiques and artworks in a chic area downtown.
