As Toronto is one of the commercial hubs of North America, it is home to a multitude of shopping districts that cater to a wide variety of needs. People with varying degrees of spending power and shopping tastes won't be disappointed with Toronto's bustling retail scene.

Here are some of the best places to shop in the city:

Yonge Street - aside from being the longest continuous street in the world, Yonge Street is known as one of the city's premiere shopping streets famous for tourists looking for souvenir and gift shops. The street boasts of a diverse mix of expensive shops and discount stores. Yonge Street is home to farmer's markets (such as St. Lawrence Market) and the famous Eaton Centre (see below).

Toronto Fashion District - located near the Eaton Centre along Queen Street West, the city's hub of fashion is home to trendy stores selling the latest fashion pieces.

Kensington Market - a center boasting of hundreds of stores. Although most of them are food vendors, a lot of used clothing shops abound, too.

Chinatown - Chinatowns all over the world (especially in North America) don't fail to impress with the variety of stores geared towards tourists, and Toronto's Chinatown just fits the bill.

Eaton Centre - the Toronto Eaton Centre is one of North America's top shopping places and Canada's premiere malls. The Centre, with hundreds of shops and over a million visitors a week, is Toronto's most popular tourist attraction. The mall is also considered by many people to be the largest downtown shopping center in the continent.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre - the Yorkdale Shopping Centre is an upscale shopping mall. Having over 240 stores, the center is the third largest mall in Ontario, Canada.

Honest Ed's - Honest Ed's is famous for bargain hunters for its wide array of discount merchandise, and is considered a landmark store. The shop is located in downtown Toronto.
