Education
K-12 public schools are operated by the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Prominent prep schools also abound, as well as specialty institutions such as the Ontario Centre Science School and alternative schooling.
Toronto is also home to Canada's largest university, the University of Toronto. York University, the second largest, is home to post-secondary school Glendon College and Osgoode Law School. Found also in the city are prominent centers for training in the different art disciplines. Many schools are also teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
Transportation
Throughout Ontario, Toronto included, runs GO Transit, a transport system consisting of 38 railway trains and 288 buses. Locally, the Toronto Transit Corporation (TTC) also provides public transportation through a subway system, the Scarborough RT line, as well as a busy network of buses and streetcars.
As for traveling by air, the city's primary airport is the Toronto Pearson International Airport, found at the western boundary with Mississauga. Toronto City Centre Airport is the smaller of the two, located in the Toronto Islands.
PATH, which is Downtown Toronto's underground walkway for all shopping, dining, and other affairs, links to the city's transport, hotels, department stores, and tourist spots. It is also in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest underground shopping complex. The red P is for the south, orange A for west, blue T for north, and yellow H for east.
Toronto also has a well-developed biking/walking route, not to mention such a culture, as well as ferries year-round to and from just about anywhere.
Health
Aside from having some prominent hospitals and health facilities, Toronto's Discovery District is the centre for research in biomedicine, including the Medical and Related Sciences (MaRS) Centre. The McLaughlin Centre for Molecular Medicine (MCMM) is found in the Medical Discovery Tower and operates in several other partner sites.
Media
Found in Toronto are two of Canada's national newspapers, The Globe and Mail and the National Post. The Toronto Star boasts of the highest paper circulation in all Canada; its other papers are the Toronto Sun, Metro (formerly Metro Today), and 24 Hours. Other papers are published in foreign tongues such as Spanish, Italian, Chinese, etc. Toronto is also the centre of top Canadian television networks (CBC, CTV), as well as the publishing industry.
