Toronto Entertainment

Every day in Toronto is a day of fun and celebration. Pick up your favorite paper and treat yourself to an event that's happening today.

Arts and Culture

The Toronto theatre scene is so full of life that you are sure to find a show or two you'll fall in love with. The largest and most glitzy shows are at King St. and Yonge St. Watch out for Canadian's pride playing at a theatre nearby: the Hummingbird Theatre, Cinematheque Ontario, Canadian Stage Company (CanStage), the National Ballet of Canada, the Toronto Symphony, and more. The Clubland district is home of the Pantages, Roy Thompson Hall, Royal Alexandra, Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre Centre, Massey Hall, and Canada's Walk of Fame.

The Distillery also houses performing arts companies such as the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Soulpepper Theatre Company, George Brown's Theatre School, Dancemakers, Nightwood Theatre, and Tapestry Orchestra. Aside from that, it is 13 acres of the best-preserved Victorian Industrial Architecture in North America. It's the first pedestrian-only village in the city, and as one can imagine, it is where Toronto's artists and artisans thrive.

For even more views, Ontario Place, which is three artificial islands along the Lake Ontario waterfront, houses several rides as well as the Cinesphere (world's first permanent IMAX theatre), the Forum, and the Molson Amphitheatre.

The Toronto International Film Festival is perhaps the world's largest film festival, Cannes's fiercest rival.

Toronto celebrates over a thousand festivals each year. Of these, The Village district "prides" itself in hosting Canada's largest annual gay and lesbian Pride celebrations.

Sports and Recreation

Torontonians are avid sports fans; this much is evident from the city's well-loved teams--the Raptors, Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, Argonauts--and its awe-inspiring athletic buildings including the Rogers Centre, Air Canada Centre, and the Maple Leaf Gardens. Aside from hockey, baseball, basketball, and football, the city also loves soccer, lacrosse, horse racing, tennis, car racing, and golf.

If you're on the beach, you can also enjoy volleyball, biking, rollerblading, boating, and of course, swimming.
