Ottawa Hotels

Ottawa has the right hotels for both the frugal and the spendthrift person. Being one of Canada's largest cities, you can expect some of the best amenities in Ottawa's hotels.

When talking about Ottawa accomodations, the Fairmont Chateau Laurier (or simply Chateau Laurier) is always brought up. The prestigious hotel is a landmark structure in downtown Ottawa, near Parliament Hill, that has hosted celebrities, heads of state, royalty, political figures, and members of Canada's (and the world's) elite. As expected, if you want to stay in the Chateau Laurier, you've got to have the dough.

For many people, the top hotels in Ottawa are the Chateau Laurier, the Brookstreet Hotel, the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, the Marriott, the Minto Place, and the Westin Hotel. Other good top-price hotels in the city are the ARC and the Delta Ottawa Hotel.

For the person who can afford mid-range accomodations, the University of Ottawa has a guest house with private rooms. Other mid-range hotels include the Best Western Victoria Park Suites, the Albert House Inn, and the Albert at Bay Suite Hotel.

If you're more of the frugal visitor, the interesting Ottawa Jail Hostel might be worth your money. It's interesting because it's the old Ottawa Jail, and the bedrooms are old jail cells! Another budget hotel is the Ottawa Backpackers Inn, which is a converted house.
