Education

Montreal has four universities. Universite de Montreal and Universite du Quebec r Montreal are Francophone while Concordia University and McGill University and Anglophone. Two other campuses, Universite de Sherbrooke and Universite Laval, are within easy access as well.

High school graduates who wish to study in Quebec universities, which include those in Montreal, are required to finish two years of CEGEP (French acronym for College of General and Professional Education). CEGEPs also provide training for technical skills, but cover three years.

Transportation

Montreal has two international airports, the Montreal-Pierre Eliott Trudeau International Airport and the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport. VIA Rail's headquarters are in Montreal. The Amrak's Adirondack sends passengers daily from Montreal to New York City. The Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) manages the subway (Montreal Metro) and bus system while Agence metropolitaine de transport handles the commuter rail system. Montreal is also the heart of Quebec's expressway network called the autoroute (the French word for expressway).
