Schools in Halifax

There are over 150 public schools under the Halifax Regional School Board and 14 private schools including the Sacred Heart School of Halifax.

Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University, and Mount Saint Vincent are the three largest degree-granting institutions in Halifax. Nova Scotia Community College currently has three campuses in the area: Institute of Technology Campus, Halifax Campus, and Akerley Campus.

Health Care in Halifax

One of the region's most advanced medical facilities is the Queen Elizabeth II. Izaak Walton Killam is also among the top hospitals in North America. Clinics include Dalhousie MS Research Unit, Duffus Street Medical Centre, and Armdale Chiropractic Health Centre.

Media Companies in Halifax

Halifax has the largest media base in Atlantic Canada, not to mention the first centre of free speech and free press in all of British Commonwealth. On top of that, the first book and the first newspaper in the country were printed here.

The Chronicle-Herald, a daily broadsheet from Halifax, circulates throughout the province of Nova Scotia. Televisions companies in Halifax include CBHT/CBC Nova Scotia (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Halifax Television), CJCH/CTV (C J Chronicle Herald), CBAFT/SRC, and CIFH/Global Television Network.

Transport in Halifax

On land, Halifax is connected to several provincial highways. Both VIA Rail and the Canadian National Railway have trains that leave for Montreal, Toronto, and more. Halifax also has its own International Airport, the most prominent in all of Nova Scotia. At least five heliports can be found in the municipality's urban core.

Also a major feature of Halifax, the Halifax Harbour is managed by the Halifax Port Authority as well as the Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard in certain facilities.

Metro Transit is the main public transit system in the heart of Halifax, which uses standard buses, a bus-rapid system, and a ferry system.
