Arts and Theatre
Neptune Theatre houses the internationally renowned theatre company as well as the Theatre School. The region has a number of other theatres including the Grafton Street Dinner Theatre and the Feast Dinner Theatre for a complete evening treat.
Sports and Recreation
Halifax is home to practically every type of sport, although its most popular ones are paddling, sailing, parkour, lacrosse, rugby, and hockey. MC, which is short for Halifax Metro Centre, is the largest activity complex in the area. Halifax is also a great place for hiking, biking, swimming, sledding, and skiing.
Festivals and Other Events
Watch out for the International Buskerfest, ten days of street performances ("busking" is the art of street theatre) by the Atlantic Busker Festival Society. The Halifax Comedy Fest is also a must-see, boasting of several performances in many different venues including open mic night and shows for different tastes and age groups. Halifax also holds Atlantic Canada's biggest music festival, the TD Canada Trust Atlantic Jazz Festival at Spring Garden Road.
Other events you should look forward to include the Halifax Harbour Festival, the Halifax International Boat Show, the Grou Tyme Acadian Festival, and the Halifax Highland Games and Scottish Festival.
