Education

The city boasts of two degree granting universities, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) and St. Thomas University (STU). UNB is the oldest public university in North America, while STU is the province's only Catholic university. Other higher institutions of learning are the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, New Brunswick Community College, Maritime College of Forest Technology, and Northeastern Christian College.

Fredericton is also home to two public high schools, Fredericton High School and Leo Hayes High School. The �cole Sainte-Anne provides K-12 French language education, while there are also four middle schools, fourteen elementary schools and three private schools.

Transportation

The city is served by the Acadian intercity bus lines which provide transit to Eastern Canadian and Northeastern American cities, while Fredericton Transit provides transit service to most areas within the city. Taxis are also common in Fredericton.

As for traveling by air, the city's primary airport is the Greater Fredericton International Airport, which is located approximately 15 kilometres east of downtown. The city is served by two airlines: Air Canada and Delta Air Lines.

Fredericton is also part of the Trans-Canada Trail network; its recreational trails are used by residents for walking, biking, and jogging.

Health

Fredericton is home to the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital, which is the main medical facility for central and western New Brunswick.

Media

The city is served by The Daily Gleaner, which is complemented by three weekly newspapers. There are 11 radio stations and 4 television channels.
