Head over to the Arts District for many different cultural centres, including the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Winspear Centre for Music (home of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra), and the Citadel Theatre (formerly the Old Salvation Army Citadel). Since this area surrounds the prominent Sir Winston Churchill Square, which is home to several structures including an amphitheatre, you can also witness numerous festivals celebrated there, such as the International Street Performers Festival, the Works Art & Design Festival, the Cariwest Parade, Taste of Edmonton, and the Pride Festival.

Hawrelak Park is also a site for many other Edmonton festivals, e.g., the River City Shakespeare Festival, Heritage Festival, the Symphony Under the Sky, and the Edmonton Labatt's Blues Festival. In Northlands you will find Edmonton's main summer event, the Capital EX (formerly the Klondike Days).

Old Strathcona houses the Theatre District, where you'll the Varsacona Theatre (home of Teatro la Quindincia, Rapid Fire Theatre, Die Nasty, and Oh Susanna!, which are just some of its theatre companies), and of course, the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, the largest Fringe Theatre celebration in North America. For film enthusiasts, the Garneau Theatre hosts the Edmonton International Film Festival.

Sports buffs should visit the Commonwealth Stadium, built in 1978 for the Commonwealth Games, home of the Edmonton Eskimos (CFL). TELUS Field, a.k.a. the Phone Booth, is the second largest minor league baseball field after Lynx Stadium in Ottawa. Rexall Place houses the Edmonton Oilers (NHL), the Edmonton Rush (NLL), and the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL), among others. The Canadian Finals Rodeo is also held there. Aside from these, you can also enjoy golf, cross-country skiing through the city's vast network of trails, and downhill skiing.
